What is a Refugee Law Clinic?

A refugee law clinic is an association of students and other volunteers who dedicate themselves to offer free legal advice for refugees and asylum seekers. The association provides the students with legal training and cooperates with skilled lawyers who voluntarily support the association.

What matter can be addressed by the advising students?

We support our clients with diverse issues. For example, we help if you want to change your residence, if you want to bring your family to Germany or if you have appointments with the German authorities. To properly evaluate if your issue is one we can advise on it is best if you come to our open consultation hours. Please also bring all the documents you have received so far.

Who are the advisors?

The legal advice is provided by students only. This also means that you will not be speaking to a fully trained lawyer. However, our students underwent a training program focused on asylum and migration law and cooperate with lawyers if your case is complicated.

How can I contact the RLCD with my case?

To evaluate properly if we can provide advice on your personal issue please visit us in our open consultation hours. Our students on-site can then decide whether we can take your case or if it needs to be handed over to a lawyer.

When and where do the consultation hours take place?

Our consultation hours are every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 7-8:30 pm at Flüchtlinge Willkommen in Düsseldorf (Heinz-Schmöle Straße 7, 40227 Düsseldorf)

Are there any fees?

No, there are no fees, we provide legal advice free of charge.

Our team of well educated legal advisors supervise the consulting-hours and cases.

Within the scope of our activities, we work together with  other non – profit organizations and associations throughout Germany. Click on one of the logos if you are interested in one of our partners.
