Engage! – As student

If you are interested in working for the RLCD and providing legal advice for refugees and asylum seekers, click here for further information on our legal training and advisory practice or become a member of our association. In addition, we are always looking for committed people who support us with the internal organisation of our association and project. If you like to visit or support us please do not hesitate to contact us below, via e-mail (info@rlc-duesseldorf.de) or on facebook.

Engage! – As visitor

You are not a student but you still want to support us? Telling other people about us is already a big help. Although we are all volunteers, our association has expenses, for example for our website or liability insurance. Thus, we are dependent on donations. If you want to support our association financially, you can donate to our donations account below. You can also become a sustaining member of our association, supporting us annually with an amount of money of your choice.

Engage! – As supervisor

We are always looking for committed lawyers who are experienced in asylum and migration law and who support our students. In regular meetings, supervisors are supposed to give answers to legal and strategic questions concerning a certain case. You decide for yourself how much time you want to invest. Of course, the more lawyers become involved the less work it becomes per person. If you want to support us as a supervisor or if you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us below or via e-mail (info@rlc-duesseldorf.de).

How can I support the association financially?

You can donate to our donation bank account below or you can become a sustaining member with an annual contribution of your choice.

Who can join the RLCD?

Every student can participate, you do not have to be a law student. You will be trained with the other students in a lecture on asylum law as well as attend at least two seminars. After passing the exam at the end of the lecture you are allowed to give legal advice.

What is our mission?

We want to help refugees and asylum seekers in order to provide proper and fair proceedings with German authorities and courts.

Why should I engage?

The work for the Refugee Law Clinic is on a voluntary basis. It is a great possibility to apply theoretical knowledge in practice as well as to broaden your cultural and social horizon.

Am I required to speak certain languages?

You should be able to speak German and English fluently. Speaking more languages is an asset. However, we also cooperate with a pool of interpreters who support us, if required.

What workload is to be expected?

Everyone only works as much as they can. If you like, you can take over a case or run our consultation hours. Every case is different and the workload, therefore, too.

How else can I engage?

The organization team of the RLCD is always looking for support. If you want to contribute, please feel free to contact us via our contact form (see below), via e-mail (info@rlc-duesseldorf.de) or via facebook at any time.

What do supervisors do?

Supervisors are fully trained lawyers with experience in asylum and migration law who support and supervise our advisors. They give advice on legal and strategic matters in regular meetings.

What workload is to be expected for a supervisor?

You decide for yourself how much time you want to invest. Generally, there is less work per person the more lawyers engage.

Our team of well educated legal advisors supervise the consulting-hours and cases.

Within the scope of our activities, we work together with  other non – profit organizations and associations throughout Germany. Click on one of the logos if you are interested in one of our partners.
